Campaign Update 4
6th July 2007
Yuli Tamir event
We very much regret that we were forced to cancel the visit on 10th July of Yuli Tamer MK, Israel's Minister of Education, to address us at the National Union of Teachers. Unfortunately, due to governmental duties, she was obliged to return to Israel early and cut short her time in the UK.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused, and hope to reschedule the event in the near future.

UCU Update
The UCU's Strategy and Finance Committee met on Friday to decide how to implement their conference policy on the boycott. Afterwards, Sally Hunt wrote to all members to explain what had been decided:
- UCU will have a series of debates on the boycott in London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester and the South West.
These will include both Palestinian and Israeli academic Trade Unionists.
After these debates, the Executive will decide on the next moves in November.
The next steps will include debates in local branches.
Sally Hunt will report to UCU Congress 2008 on the debates.

Calling all academics
If an academic boycott goes ahead, how will this effect you and your department?
- Will this mean that vital collaboration between your department and your Israeli counterparts would be compromised?
- Will it mean that you will have to cut the hours of your staff?
- How will this effect your students?
We want to hear WHAT YOU THINK. It
